Saki is the primates of the Pitheciidae family. This animal has a species name Pithecia pithecia. This monkey also known as the Guianan saki or gold-face saki.
It’s easy to distinguish female saki monkey from the male, you can identify the male by a bright white thick fur on his face, while the female saki has brownish gray. The face of saki females are not filled with white fur. In her chest and abdomen there are fur with brown to orange colored.
The long and thick feather owned by saki monkey is useful to keep them dry during heavy rains. Their tails are large and unique, useful not for hanging on the tree trunk as well as the other monkeys, but as a means of balance when jumping from one tree to another.
The main enemy of the saki monkey is harpy eagles and vultures. If there is a bird of prey came, then saki monkeys will soon be shouting alarm. A moment later, all the members will be mutually blared the same voice shouted. If you hear a distress signal as it is, they will stop moving and will slowly move downward to hide.
The saki monkeys really liked staying in the rain forest, tropical dry forest or savanna Amazon in Brazil, Suriname, Venezuela, and other regions in the northern part of South America. They love to spend time in the trees. With strong legs, they are easy to move from one tree to another.
