The inventor of human blood type is Karl Landsteiner who was born in June 14th, 1868 in Baden bei Wien, Austria. He studied majoring in medical in University of Wien and graduated in 1891. When he was a student, he wrote about diet influence to the blood composition.
The Starting of Invention
In the year of 1900, under his research, Karl found that there are blood clots when two human bloods are combined. Then, in the year of 1901, he found that the blood clots are happen because of blood serum. From this point, Karl identified that there are three types of human blood, they are A, B, and O (at that time he said C).
The First Done of Blood Transfusion
From this research, Karl then concluded that blood transfusion between human who has same blood type will not causing problem to the blood cells. After he was classifying human blood type, Karl develops his research with the first blood transfusion together with Alexander Wiener in the year of 1937.
Even though he has giving this big invention, Karl was not satisfied. In the year of 1909, he was doing his research with Constantin Levaditi and Erwin Popper, and they found polio virus. Saw his merits, then Karl awarded Nobel prize in Physiology in the year 1930 and Lasker Award in 1946.
