Hyrax, the Singer of the Desert

In the dry desert, you can hear sound like a song but nobody in there. So, who was singing?
The sound of desert is come from hyrax, little mammal which inhabit the desert. Hyrax communicates with tone sound. Sometime with high tone sound, other time with lower tone sound. The hyrax’s song often been heard correspond one another in quiet desert.
This herbivore live in the desert east side of Africa continent. Hyrax live in group, they live in rocky mountains. One group consist of 50 hyraxes. They share their habitat and also their food. The habitat of hyrax can easily been known by white patches around their area. This white patches came from crystallized urine.
Family with the elephant
If you see them for a while, hyrax body shape is like mouse or civet. Sometime you can see them are like rabbit with short ear. Its fur is colored brownish black. This color makes them unseen by their predator while they are on the sand or on the rocks.
Did you know, hyrax has same family with elephant. It’s teeth and shape of skull is resemblance one another with this big mammals which have trunks. Hyrax is also has 2 little teeth which resemble to elephant tusk. The different is that hyrax weight only 5 kilograms and its height is only 20 – 30 cm, compared with elephant which has hundreds kilograms weight when they was born.
