Dragonfly was indeed a transcendent aviator aka flying master. Why? These are some proofs: dragonflies can fly at speeds reached 90 km/h or 60 miles/hour, dragonflies are also able to fly forward, backward, upward, and downward. Because of its ability to fly, dragonfly is the insect which was once used as a model for the creation of the famous Sikorsky Helicopter.
Sophisticated Wide Eyes
Dragonflies have a very wide eyes. Their sophisticated large and wide eyes are consists of 30,000 small super lenses. Amazingly, these lenses could directed to a different point. With this wide eyes, dragonflies have vision of 360 degree viewing angle. So, dragonfly can see in every direction.
The body of Dragonfly is indeed small, but dragonflies are able to eat a lot. Dragonflies are predators which typically eat mosquitoes, moths, ants, termites, bees, butterflies, and flies. Sometimes, dragonflies also eat larvae, small fish, and tadpoles. Adults dragonfly can eat about 50 mosquitoes in one day while flying.
Although often seemed to flying everywhere, actually dragonflies can not far from water. Why? Because water is where dragonflies laying their eggs. Typically, dragonfly eggs placed in aquatic plants. The new dragonflies which hatched and live in water is named “nymph“.
